France Galop is implementing a new reading of the condition of the Fiber Sand Track (PSF) at Chantilly from January 27, 2017 and at Deauville from March 1, 2017.

Press release France Galop. - France Galop is implementing a new reading of the condition of the Fiber Sand Track (PSF) at Chantilly from January 27, 2017 and at Deauville from March 1, 2017.

The readings are made using a Clegg Impact tester. This device will also help the racecourses to manage the condition of the track.

The Clegg impact tester measures the elasticity and plasticity of the PSF which can be influenced by extreme temperatures, hot or cold, and snow.

In the morning, thirty measures of Clegg will be taken on five locations of the PSF, each involving three impacts.

One of the ratings below will be published on the eve as well as on the racing day:

  • SLOW (lent)
  • STANDARD (standard)
  • FAST (rapide)
  • VERY FAST (très rapide)

The aim is to have a STANDARD track condition according to the weather conditions.
