Saturday, July 4, 2020, Auteuil. - The Aguado 3yo Hurdle Race (Gr3) is the first Group race of the season for 3-year-olds. It was also the scene of the Auteuil debuts of its favourite, Magneto (Boris de Deauville), already winner of two races including the Stanley 3yo Hurdle Race (L) at Compiègne. Owned by Patrice Détré, partnered by his father Jacques and the trainer François Nicolle, he had just beaten four of his eight rivals on the day. He was in the lead early alongside Jeu de Paume (Wootton Bassett), took over on his own going into the last bend, but could not get rid of the field already.

The first again to jump the last two hurdles, he then stood up to Jeu de Paume, who had had a breather in the turn, and took off again in the run-in to score by a length and a half over Jeu de Paume, himself six lengths ahead of a patiently-ridden Prunay (Prince Gibraltar), who nevertheless only marginally edged Baladin de Mesc (Chœur du Nord), always noted by the field.

Bred in Maine-et-Loire by Pierre Gasnier and Écurie Jean-Claude Laisis, Magneto is out of Villzane (Villez), who ran four times but only finished once her race, and changed owners at the end of an auction race.

She is a sister to Willdance (Villez), 3rd in the Sagan 3yo Fillies Hurdle Race (L), which has since been promoted to Group 3, and a winner of a Jean Stern 4yo Chase (Gr2). Magneto is the only one of the five Villzane offspring to have won. She was also mated to the AQPS sire Voiladenuo in 2018 to give a filly born in 2019, after another filly by Red Dubawi, now 2-year-old.

Magneto was sold €12,000 at the Osarus November 2018 sale at Maisons-Laffitte.
