Saturday, June 13, 2020, Compiègne. - Six months have passed since the Cambacérès 3yo Hurdle race (Gr1) and remain before the Renaud du Vivier 4yo Hurdle (Gr1), as the Alain du Breil 4yo Hurdle race (Gr1) is the top Summer contest for the top 4yo hurdlers. Run at Compiègne this season, the championship only gathered five runners after two of them, Moises Has and Born to Hold, were withdrawn. Three were still competing for the trophy going off the last bend and For Fun (Motivator) took the upper hand in the end, struggling to overcome a tough front-running James du Berlais (Muhtathir), the favourite Kool Has (Martaline), who made a few mistakes, finishing third at 5 lengths. The stewards let the result stand after an inquiry as the two first horses home leaned on each other in the final stages of the race.

It was third winner for the trainer Guillaume Macaire in a race, one year after Feu Follet won this at Auteuil.

A brother to 2 Gr1 winners over the flat, the consistent For Fun was sold € 12,000 to Guillaume Macaire by his breeder the Haras du Quesnay at the Deauville sales. His dam Funny Féérie (Sillery) won the Christian de Tredern Mares' Hurdle Race (L) at Auteuil and gave Full of Gold (Gold Away), a Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1) winner, and Fuissé (Green Tune), who won the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1).

For Fun finished in the three first home in 10 of his 11 races over hurdles. For his return this season, he finished 3rd in the d'Indy 4yo Hurdle race (Gr3) 9 lengths behind Moises Has, and went on to lead most of the Amadou 4yo Hurdle race (Gr2) last time out.
