Contested this year over 5 furlongs at ParisLongchamp, the Prix d'Arenberg (Gr3) gives the fastest 2-year-olds the opportunity to come back on a short trip after having possibly tried their luck on a longer one, like Livachope (Goken) or Axdavali (Goken), or simply after having shown sufficient ability to attempt a step up in class.

A French Group race for 2-year-olds would not be entirely complete without a British contender, even if Furlong Factor (Adaay) does not come across as such a frightening raider, and it is rather from America that the attraction of this race ships in as the undefeated Wink (Midshipman), twice a winner over turf across the Pond, will run. for the first time on the Old Continent, like her stablemate at Wesley Ward's, Campanelle, supreme in Deauville in the Darley Prix Morny (Gr1).

  • 1. LIVACHOPE (f2, FRA by Goken and Laia Chope, by Soave) Rating: 101lbs

Trained in La Teste-de-Buch by Jane Soubagné, she was unbeaten in three outings, winning all the way the Prix du Bois (Gr3) over 5 furlongs, when she showed her limits for the first time, over 6 furlongs in the Darley Prix Morny (Gr1). She hadn't run in over seven weeks by then and this time carries a three-pound penalty

She is entered in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines (Gr1).

  • 2. AXDAVALI (c2, FRA by Goken and Key Success, by Kodiac) Rating: 102lbs

Trained in Deauville by Yann Barberot, he is the first offspring of a maiden mare who raced four times in claimers without changing owners. Defeated on his debut by an impressive Giulio Cesare, he was more imposing on his next outing, when he won at Deauville by seven lengths. Too keen in his next two outings in the Prix du Bois (Gr3) then the Darley Prix Robert Papin (Gr2), he seemed to find the last furlong of the Darley Prix de Cabourg (Gr3) a bit too much, last time out a month ago, when fourth.

  • 3. LA DISCOTECA (f2, IRE by Anjaal and Club Privé, by Acclamation) Rating: 93lbs

Trained in Chantilly by Fabrice Vermeulen, she won two claimers by four and three lengths, then finished sixth in the Prix des Rêves d'Or (L) with a tough trip and then redeemed herself when a brave second in the Prix de la Vallée d'Auge (L) over 5 furlongs.

She is entered in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines (Gr1).

  • 4. NIGHT HUNTING (f2, FRA by Amarillo and Italica, by Slickly) Rating: 93lbs

Trained at Chantilly by Nicolas Clément, claimed after her victorious debut by her current connections, she then finished sixth in the Prix La Flèche (L) but she went on to win a class 2 race at Chateaubriant. She finished a clear second afterwards in her most recent outing on 23 July at Vichy in the Prix des Rêves d'Or (L).

  • 5. FURLONG FACTOR (f2, GB by Adaay and Talent Spotter, by Exceed and Excel) Rating: 86lbs

Trained in England by Rod Millman, bought £ 10,000 at the yearling sales in England, she won her first race on her third outing, in June over 5f, then finished fifth in a Listed race and obtained the same ranking recently at the Goodwood meeting, both over the same distance.

  • 6. WINK (f2, USA by Midshipman and Dancing My Way, by Wildcat Heir) Rating: -

Trained in the USA by Wesley Ward, bought for $ 110,000 at the Keeneland sales in Kentucky, she is unbeaten in two outings in the United States, both over 5f and on turf.

  • 7. KALAHARA (f2, GB by Frankel and Désertiste, by Green Desert) Rating: 40.5kg

Trained in La Teste-de-Buch by Christophe Ferland, bred by her owners, she has just won her maiden over 6f at Deauville, notably beating Bonita Queen, third that day and since winning the Prix de la Vallée d'Auge (L).

It was her third outing. She finished second on her debut in June at La Teste, and third without a clear run behind Cœursamba, who finished third in the Prix Six Perfections (Gr3) since then.
