The 3-year-olds hurdlers’ championship, the Cambacérès 3yo Hurdle race (Gr1) is the first of every generation at Auteuil. Even though the youngsters have had all Summer and early Autumn to compete, potential leaders still abound. However, outstanding horses, winners or placed in previous Cambacérès, have enjoyed long flourishing careers in France and across the Channel, as the history of the race testifies.

Thélème (Sidestep) has just won the last prep race, the Georges de Talhouët-Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2), but progress, like failures, can be expected, so early and at such a high level ...

  • 1. LE LISTRAC (g3, FRA by Balko and Margonote, by Poliglote) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 149lbs

Trained in Charente by François Nicolle, he has raced only four times and has won his last two outings, the last for his debut at Auteuil. He narrowly won and is now facing the best of his class.

  • 2. BALADIN DE MESC (g3, FRA by Chœur du Nord and Cendrillon de Mesc, by Discover d´Auteuil) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 150lbs

Trained in Maine-et-Loire by Gabriel Leenders, he has just taken the third place chasing at Auteuil and had also long been entered in the Congress 3yo Chase (Gr2), also run on Sunday. Instead, he’s switched back over hurdles where he took second place last September, near Hermès Baie, ahead of Raffles Face and Magneto ...

  • 3. HÉROS D’AINAY (g3, FRA by Sholokhov and Étoile d'Ainay, by Dom Alco) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 146lbs

Trained in Maine-et-Loire by Gabriel Leenders, he clearly beat, on his debut, I’m Walkin, who then finished a very close 2nd to Baladin de Mesc. It was in May, and he just made his comeback in the Georges de Talhouët-Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2), finishing fifth, half a length behind Magneto.

  • 4. THELEME (g3, FRA by Sidestep and Utopia Jem, by Okawango) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 159lbs

Trained in Royan-La Palmyre by Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé, he only ran over hurdles twice. Still, after finishing second for his debut less than a length behind Baladin de Mesc, he brilliantly won the Georges de Talhouët -Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2), in a sprint, after travelling in the rear.

  • 5. MAGNETO (g3, FRA by Boris de Deauville and Villzane, by Villez) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 152lbs

Trained in Charente by François Nicolle, he was one of the first leaders of this promotion, until the Summer, winning three races at Compiègne and then Auteuil. This season, however, he finished fourth in the two benchmark races, the Robert Lejeune 3yo Hurdle race (Gr3) then the Georges de Talhouët-Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2).

  • 6. HERMÈS BAIE (g3, FRA by Crillon and Ludmika, by Murmure) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 154lbs

Trained in Charente by François Nicolle, he won his first two hurdle races at Auteuil, including the Robert Lejeune 3yo Hurdle race (Gr3) ahead of Hermès Baie, Raffles Face and Magneto. On the other hand, he could not hold Thélème's final dash nor contain the 2nd-placed Raffles Face in the Georges de Talhouët-Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2).

  • 7. RAFFLES FACE (g3, FRA by Authorized and North Face, by Falco) Weight: 10-8 / Rating: 153lbs

Trained in Charente by François Nicolle, he competed in four hurdle races and finished each time in the leading trio, including once in the first place, for his debut at Auteuil in June. He held out well against Thélème until the last hundred yards in the Georges de Talhouët-Roy 3yo Hurdle race (Gr2) lately.
