October 23, 2021, Saint-Cloud Racecourse (Hauts-de-Seine). - After winning the Prix de Condé (Gr3) for his second attempt in France, about three weeks ago, El Bodegon (Kodiac) easily confirmed over 10 furlongs in the Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1). Trained by James Ferguson and ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal, he took off early in the straight in a decisive move that prevented him from being caught by the late closer Stone Age (Galileo), beaten one and a half-length in the end. Another length behind came Goldspur (Dubawi), who just kept a short head over Buckaroo (Fastnet Rock).

El Bodegon is a full brother to Best Solution, a triple Gr1-winner for Godolphin. Darley had sold their dam Al Andalyya (Kingmambo) at Tattersalls in 2012 for £ 10,500. The purchaser, Cecil McCracken, used Kodiac afterwards and sold the offspring. If Best Solution was sold for £ 32,000 as a weanling, he was sold again £ 90,000 the following year to John Ferguson in 2015. When El Bodegon also entered the ring, his elder brother had won at the best level and the colt was sold at £200,000.
