Earthlight (Shamardal) remained undefeated Sunday in the Darley Prix de Cabourg (Gr3), leaving his nearest challenger and British stablemate Well of Wisdom (Oasis Dream) at four lengths on the 6-furlong straight trip. The latter won the Prix Roland Chambure (L) over 7 furlongs at ParisLongchamp lately.

According to the Longines timing, the last three furlongs were completed in 11''38, 11'20 and 11''92. Earthlight, who is trained at Chantilly by Andre Fabre, took the lead about one furlong out.

This second round of the Darley Series after the Darley Prix Robert Papin (Gr2) is, of course, a springboard for the Darley Prix Morny (Gr1), run on the same course and distance on August 18.

Third to A'Ali, who has since won the Darley Prix Robert Papin, in the Norfolk Stakes (Gr2) at Royal Ascot, Dubai Station (Brazen Beau) was unable to catch Well of Wisdom and he had to settle for the third place in front of the brave Jolie (Power), third to A'Ali last Sunday.

Earthlight's family was managed by Robert Sangster's Swettenham Stud and passed into the hands of the Dubai family through the late Sheik Maktoum al Maktoum, who bought Earthlight's 3rd dam, a sister of the Derby winner Golden Fleece. His second dam, Summertime Legacy (Darshaan) won the Prix des Réservoirs (Gr3) for trainer André Fabre and bred Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1) winner, Mandaean (Manduro),  and a Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1) winner, Wavering (Refuse to Bend). Their sibling Winters Moon (New Approach), Earthlight's dam, was third in the Fillies Mile (Gr1) but left racing with only her debut victory under her belt
