Wednesday, 27th September 2023, Auteuil Racecourse, Paris – Beaten by seven lengths on her return by Sissi du Mesnil (Kapgarde), who was then carrying an extra 4lbs over the Pelat 3yo Fillies Hurdle (L), the AQPS filly Kara Diamond (Diamond Green) got her revenge in the €135,000 Chambly 3yo Fillies Hurdle (Gr3), where she was the one receiving 4lbs from her rival.

The returning Terra Bella (Seabhac) led the race from the outset and set the pace for Kara Diamond and Sissi du Mesnil, the race favourite. In the final turn, Kara Diamond launched her attack, decisively taking the initiative between the last two hurdles to triumph by four lengths ahead of Sissi du Mesnil, who finished ahead of Terra Bella. Making her debut at this level, La Spezia (Cokoriko) finished pleasingly in fourth place, another length behind.

Kara Diamond is the third foal out of Bloane (Dano Mast), a winner of the significant Prix des Guilledines on the flat at Durtal. She has also taken third place in a handicap with a rating of 51 lbs against thoroughbreds. The first foal, Islebriand (On Est Bien), sold for £5,000 at the Goffs UK sales at the end of 2021, remains a maiden in Britain.

Bred by Patrick Moulin and Arnaud Poirier, Kara Diamond is the best jumper this family has produced for a long time, as her previous top products have all been flat racers. Subsequent to her, foals by Voiladenuo, Gary du Chenêt, and another by Hunter’s Light have been born.
