Saturday, June 17, 2023, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris) - The 4-year-old AQPS Javanaise (Free Port Lux) was ridden to perfection by Johnny Charon in a race that was tactical for a long time and therefore seemed to favour the favourites in the lead, namely Indian de Gascogne (Martaline) and Flash Davier (Doctor Dino), who set the pace throughout the €135,000 Christian de Tredern 4&5yo Mares' Hurdle Race (Gr3). However, on this hot day, the most patient runners had the last word, even though Impulse Précieuse (Balko), who took the lead as early as the back straight, managed to hold on to the second place.

Javanaise had not raced since finishing fifth over the hurdles at Auteuil, a racecourse where she had never won. She had just won her first race in Toulouse after three placings last year at 3 years old in Bordeaux and Auteuil. Offered at 20/1, the Charente-trained filly attacked into the final bend, having travelled at the back of the field, with Mandurose (Manduro) on her inside and Montabella (Montmartre) on her outside, all three closing in on the leaders. Impulse Précieuse was still leading at the last hurdle, while West End Girl (Great Pretender) had lost her chance by veering sharply at the previous jump. Javanaise and Mandurose were already neck and neck, and the former was about to pull away by a good length from a brave Impulse Précieuse, with Mandurose a close second and Montabella a length behind.

Bred by her owners, Paul Couderc and Patrick Joubert, Javanaise is the first foal out of the talented Candaline (Martaline), trained by Emmanuel Clayeux and successful in both hurdles and steeplechases, both in the provinces and at Enghien. She has also produced a 3-year-old by Pastorius, trained by Isabelle Gallorini, like Javanaise, who made his debut two days before the Prix Christian de Tredern with a second-place finish on the flat at Lion d'Angers, as well as a yearling by Born to Sea.
