Saturday, 30th September 2023, Hippodrome ParisLongchamp (Paris). – Hindered at the finish by Gallerist (Zoffany) during the final struggle in their last outing, Double Major (Daiwa Major) exacted resounding revenge over the 1 mile and 7 furlongs of the €200,000 Qatar Prix Chaudenay (Gr2), the opening event of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend. Owned by Wertheimer & Frère, Double Major took an early lead with front-runner Kahraman (Shamalgan) and was the first to accelerate in the final straight, soon extending his lead. He beat the second favourite, Harbour Wind (Nathaniel), by nearly a length, the latter finishing strongly to take a short head over Shembala (Cracksman). Always close to the pace, Sevenna's Knight narrowly snatched fourth place from a below-par Gallerist.

Owned and bred by his owners, Double Major made his debut in March with a second-place finish at Deauville, which he later converted into his first win at Toulouse over 1 mile and 2 furlongs. Having been runner-up three times recently at the Listed level, he stepped up to claim his first title here.

The winner is the fourth foal out of Dancequest (Dansili), a Deauville winner and a Listed-placed performer, already the dam of the good Flop Shot (New Approach). Her dam Featherquest (Rainbow Quest) is also dam of Plumania and Balladeuse.

Double Major is in the 2023 Arqana Arc 2023 sale.
