June 11, 2022, Auteuil racecourse (Paris). - Another mild surprise in an eventful meeting as 5yo AQPS mare Hacienda (Saddler Maker) scores at 42/10 in the 135th €220,000 Drags Chase (Gr2). Homebred by Thierry Cyprès, she took her revenge over La Danza (Masked Marvel), who'd beat her in the Journaliste Chase (Gr3) at Compiègne, where Hacienda unseated her rider in her following race. The favourite Let Me Love (Authorized), who had defeated Sel Jem in the Maurice Gillois 4yo Chase (Gr1), made a big mistake at the rail-ditch and fence and had to settle for 4th.
In a small 5-runners field, the winner easily beat her rivals in the run-in after travelling close to the pace. The two runners saddled by Daniela Mele, La Danza (Masked Marvel) and French National winner Road Mix Tavel (Al Namix), had led the race and fought each other for second place, 2 1/2 lengths behind the winner.
Trained by Donatien Sourdeau de Beauregard and ridden by Ludovic Philipperon, Hacienda is the fourth female winner of the race in the last 5 years after Roxinela, Jubilatoire and Baie des Iles.
Hacienda is out of the AQPS mare Tieville (Ragmar), placed over jumps after winning over the flat in AQPS races. This is the bloodline of Séville, dam of the Auteuil champions Bilbao V, Fujiyama II or Janville...
