October 1st 2022, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). – Champion stayer Kyprios (Galileo) flew over the €300,000 Qatar Prix du Cadran (Gr1). Already crowned at Royal Ascot in the Gold Cup, the Moyglare Stud homebred remains unbeaten this season and completes a rare double with both the British and French staying championships under his belt. It was also a first for Ballydoyle master Aidan O'Brien in the race.

in a tough race, Kyprios (Galileo) bid his time behind the leaders to take over, entering the last straight. From then on, it was only a matter of rather than if, even though the horse veered to his left and the stands' side in the last hundred yards. Still, he passed the post with 20 lengths to spare over Almacadao Gree (Domedriver)!

Kyprios' dam Polished Gem (Danehill) is Gr3-placed over 7 furlongs. She has also foaled Free Eagle (High Chapparal), a winner of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (Gr1) at Ascot, and Sapphire (Medicean), a Gr2 winner. Kyprios's 2nd dam, Trusted Partner (Affirmed) won the Irish One Thousand Guineas (Gr1).

WHAT CONNECTIONS SAID:

Aidan O’Brien (the trainer of Kyprios, 1st) – Ireland

"It’s a privilege to train Kyprios. An incredible horse, he has incredible powers of acceleration and a heart to match. He has a very high cruising speed for a stayer. He lost a shoe, and maybe that's why he started to hang. A tough sort, he's also very classy. He's a very sweet-natured horse, and he didn’t veer off a true course out of malice."

Ryan Moore (the jockey of Kyprios, 1st)

"He won easily. Having hung across the track like that, he knows where the winning post is and the way out too! He's a very clever and good-natured horse, but he still gave me a scare today! The mere fact that he can win by 200 metres shows that he's inexhaustible [in terms of stamina]. He has won six out of his six races this year. He’s an extraordinary horse!"

Bruno Audouin (the trainer of Almacado Gree, 2nd) - Le Lude – Sarthe region

"The manner of his finish reminded me of my other "star" turn in the Prix du Cadran, Holdthasigreen! Almacado Gree made me live the dream, too... and it was as if we had won! On this occasion, he was yet again on the premises. I am also very happy for his breeders, Frédéric and Alain Bellanger, and Dominique Salle, who have had placed their trust in our set-up from the outset. It's a great story..."

Brian Ellison (the trainer of Tashkhan, 3rd) – trained in Britain

"A real soft ground horse, he hasn’t had conditions in his favour [until now]. We'll mull matters over, but the Prix Royal Oak is a possibility."
