Sunday, 27th August 2023, Deauville La Touques Racecourse (Calvados). – An easy winner of the Prix Moonlight Cloud (L) against only three-year-olds, British raider Mill Stream (Gleneagles) tracked the pacesetting American Kestrel (Starspangledbanner) until two out before effortlessly claiming another win in the €80,000 Barrière Prix de Meautry (Gr3). He defeated the older foes by nearly two lengths, the best among them being another British raider, Garrus (Acclamation), previously runner-up in the Prix de la Porte Maillot (Gr3). Batwan (Kendargent), true to form, put in another honest performance, coming from the rear to seize third place, a length and a half behind, in his characteristic style.

Mill Stream was bred in Ireland by Redpender Stud. He races for P.W. Harris, who came to Deauville to celebrate each of his two summer victories. A winner on debut in July at two years old, he finished 4th two starts later at York behind the future 2000 Guineas victor, Chaldean.

Returning in May this year, he finished sixth behind the now-retired Little Big Bear in a Group 2, then finished third and second in handicaps at York and Newmarket July, carrying 9st 1lb last time out. He is now unbeaten in France in two outings over six furlongs.

Mill Stream was sold for £350,000 as a yearling at Tattersalls to Stroud Coleman. His brother, Asymmetric (Showcasing), recently won the Prix du Cercle (L) and was handily beaten this time; he had been purchased as a two-year-old for £150,000 and later won the Richmond Stakes (Gr2).

Their yearling brother by Mehmas will be up for sale at Newmarket in October.
