Deauville, Sunday, August 25th, 2024 – The €80,000 Barrière Prix Quincey (Gr3), an intergenerational mile contest run on the straight course, was decisively won by the British raider Make Me King (Dark Angel), a 4-year-old gelding. In the final two furlongs, he surged past the pacesetting favourite, Top Gear (Wootton Bassett), ultimately prevailing by nearly three lengths.

The victor was bouncing back from a disappointing run in a major handicap over seven furlongs at Ascot on King George day (Gr1). Prior to that, he had secured a victory on the all-weather surface at Newcastle in another handicap. With a rating of 108, he boasted the highest official mark in the field.

Make Me King is trained in Newmarket by Qatari handler Hamad Al Jehani. He was purchased from Haras Voltaire for €380,000 at the Arqana Sales last November by Blandford Bloodstock.

He is the second foal out of Miss Infinity (Rock of Gibraltar), winner of the Prix des Jouvenceaux et des Jouvencelles (L) and a sister to The Wow Signal (Starspangledbanner), who captured both the Coventry Stakes (Gr2) and the Prix Morny (Gr1).

Make Me King's sister by Night of Thunder, named Nardra, fetched £440,000 at Tattersalls in October and is currently in training with William Haggas. Miss Infinity also has a 2023 colt by Night of Thunder.
