Sunday 18th June 2023, Chantilly Racecourse (Oise). - Taking an early lead over the €80,000 Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines (Gr3) mile, the 4-year-old colt Tribalist (Farhh) fended off all challenges. Despite a two-kilogram penalty, the Godolphin purchase secured a confident victory by nearly a length over his strongest contender, Topgear (Wootton Bassett), who pursued the odds-on favourite until the end. Russipant Fal (Russian Cross) valiantly tried his luck and never gave in to keep the third place, two lengths behind.

This is Tribalist's third Group win this season, having previously won the Prix Edmond Blanc (Gr3) and the Prix du Muguet (Gr2), and now the Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines (Gr3). Last year, he also finished third in the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2,000, Gr1).

Bred by Car Colston Hall Stud, Tribalist (Farhh) was sold for £130,000 at Tattersalls by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock. His dam, Fair Daughter (Nathaniel), did not race. Tribalist is her first runner. Her 3-year-old filly by Sea the Moon (Sea the Stars) is trained by Gavin Hernon and made her debut in March, finishing sixth. The second dam, Wiener Wald (Woodman), directly produced five black-type horses, including the Racing Post Trophy (Gr1) winner Crowded House (Rainbow Quest).

In this family, notable horses include the Prix Maurice de Gheest (Gr1) winner Brando (Pivotal), Ticker Tape (Royal Applause), winner of the American Oaks Invitational and Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (Gr1), and Reckless Abandon (Exchange Rate), undefeated as a 2-year-old in five outings, including the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes (Gr1).
