Sunday, 16 June 2024, Chantilly Racecourse (Oise). – Winner on his second attempt at York three weeks before this first Group-level test in the €80,000 Prix du Bois Longines (Gr3, 2yo, 1,200m), Arabie (Dandy Man) proved to be the toughest around as a safely secured victory by a good length over Secret Wood (Birchwood), who came from far back to take second place. He beats the French favourite Daylight (Earthlight), who had to travel with the wind in her face throughout the race from stall 8 and held on in 3rd.

Arabie was purchased for £92,000 at the Tattersalls Yearling Sale by Federico Barberini. He is the 13th foal of Mamma Morton (Elnadim), who has already produced Mammas Girl (Havana Grey), winner of the Nell Gwyn Stakes (Gr3) at Newmarket, as well as Master of War (Compton Place), a Gr2 placed horse.

The third dam, Water Lily (Riverman), born in France, won the Prix Yacowlef (L) at a time when the race was a Listed contest for 2-year-old newcomers. She also placed in the Prix des Réservoirs (Gr3) and the Prix Thomas Bryon (Gr3). Bred by Robert McAlpine, the filly later passed with her production to Nelson Bunker Hunt and Shadwell Stud. Her best foal, Elshamms (Zafonic), placed in the Gr3 at Goodwood over 7f at 2 years old, before finishing fifth in the Poule d’Essai (Gr1) the following season.
