Sunday, 3rd September 2023, Hippodrome ParisLongchamp (Paris) — Now unbeaten in four outings, Beauvatier (Lope de Vega) made a successful return after a 56-day absence over the 7 furlongs of the €80,000 Prix La Rochette (Gr3). He is expected to return in four weeks for the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr1), his next entry.

Representing trotting trainer Philippe Allaire, Beauvatier waited until the last furlong to pull out from behind Follow Me (Shalaa) and move forward, winning by a solid length ahead of Evade (Wootton Bassett). Evade showed considerable improvement despite a poor start and, yet again, too much to do. The representative from Qatar Racing Ltd, who had run too keenly in his previous race, the Prix François Boutin (Gr3), was left standing still in the stalls. After trailing in last, he showcased a strong finishing burst of speed. After travelling behind the winner, Havana Cigar (Havana Grey) finished third at a neck after changing course in the last furlong. Follow Me faltered in the final hundred meters.

The winning foal was purchased as a yearling in Deauville by the Yann Barberot stable for €160,000. His co-breeder consigned him, l'Écurie des Monceaux. He is the first foal out of Enchanting Skies (Sea the Stars), a Prix de Chaillot winner from a German bloodline, which includes, for example, Elle Danzig, the sister of Beauvatier's third dam and a Group 1 winner, as well as a Prix de Diane champion in Germany. A Siyouni yearling filly was sold privately for €600,000 at the recent Deauville sales.
