Saturday, April 1, 2023, Saint-Cloud Racecourse (Hauts-de-Seine). - Pensée du Jour (Camelot) was the star of the show. Undefeated in two races, she was the overwhelming favourite for the Prix Pénélope (Gr3) after her success in the Prix Rose de Mai (L). Trained by André Fabre, the filly was making her logical step up in class and did not disappoint.

As usual, she took the lead from the start and controlled the race. Gradually accelerating, she pulled away in the last furlong. In a time of 2'14''30, the representative of Ballymore Thoroughbred Racing recorded the second-best time in the last fifteen years.

Sea of Roses (Sea The Moon), a close relative to the winner, finished a pleasing second on her French debut and comeback, while the Irish filly Be Happy (Camelot), sired by the same stallion as Pensée du Jour, took third place.

Bred by Dayton Investments, Pensée du Jour is out of Painter's Pride (Dansili), who did not race but proved her worth in breeding. Her first three foals have all won races. Peinture Bleue (Alydar), the second dam, was a good staying mare who won the Prix Charles Laffitte (L) and the Belmont Long Island Handicap (Gr2, 2,400m). She is also the dam of the superstar Peintre Célebre (Nureyev), among others, who won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr1). Peinture Bleue is also the fourth dam of Jet Dark (Trippi), a five-time Gr1 winner in South Africa and four-time champion horse in his category in that country. He entered the stud in 2023 at Drakenstein Stud. This is the great Wildenstein breeding family of the "P's".
