Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). - The favourite Latino des Isles (Martaline) confirmed his outright leadership over the 4-year-old chasers in France  in the €135,000 Fleuret 4-year-old Chase (Gr3), run over 2m6f. Owned by Écurie Hub de Montmirail and Equi Flore, trained by Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé and ridden by Pierre Dubourg, Latino des Isles won his 4th straight chase after travelling near the leaders in a race marred by the fall of 4 runners out of 8 at the start. The promising filly La Chenevière (Montmartre), for instance, was brought down by Iceo Madrik (Chœur du Nord) with a circuit to go.

However, Latino des Isles was only pushed along after the last to score comfortably by three lengths over Primco (Bathyrhon) and Saint Paris (Saint des Saints), Tonguetted (Kapgarde) settling for 4th place after leading most of the race.

Latino des Isles was bred in the Vienne by Catherine Pousin, also breeder of the consistent Santana du Berlais (Saint des Saints) in partnership with Jean-Marc Lucas, of Haras du Berlais fame.

The breeder took the mare Isle Enchantée (Trempolino) to the famed NH sire Martaline (Linamix) whose legacy hasn’t failed since his passing in 2019, with the likes of Paul’s Saga, Kotkikova, Kamelie, Disko, Srelighonn, Styline, We Have A Dream, Terrefort, Chimère du Berlais, Martinstar, Athena du Berlais and many others still making the news!

On the damside, the family traces back to the Gr1 winner and Epsom Oaks 2nd Gazelle Royale. Mésange Royale, a winner of the Alain du Breil 4-year-old Hurdle race (Gr1) who gave La Grive, dam of Grivette, Roxinela et Royaleety, also belongs to this bloodline.

Latino des Isles is the best foal out of Isle Enchantée to date. At the Arqana Autumn sale in 2021, his younger brother Fuego des Iles (Saint des Saints) was bought by Trotting Bloodstock for €65,000 , ten days after his elder’s win in the Congress 3-year-old Chase (Gr3).
