Ninth in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr1) last October, French King (French Fifteen), trained in Anjou by Henri-Alex Pantall for Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, won for the second consecutive year the Amir Trophy (Gr2) on Saturday at Doha, Qatar, the nation of his owner-breeder.
French trainees also stood out on Saturday with the victory of Al Malhouf (Dutch Art) in the Amir Shalfa, for trainer Fabrice Chappet and owner Khalifa bin Sheail al Kuwairi.
The day before, on Friday, again in Doha, two horses from the Callas training center, near Marseilles, Stunning Spirit (Invincible Spirit) and Marianafoot (Footstepsinthesand) grabbed the top two places in the ITM Cup (L). The two horses had just placed in reverse order in the Prix Luthier (L) on the Deauville all-weather, in December.
