Sunday, July 4, 2021, Saint-Cloud Racecourse (Hauts-de-Seine). - Second at 2 in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr1) won by Royal Marine, 4th the following season in the Derby, 2nd last time out in the Hardwicke Stakes (Gr2) behind the tough mare Wonderful Tonight, the Irish raider Broome (Australia) led all the way in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Gr1) and no other horse was able to catch him! Ebaiyra (Distorted Humor) stayed on in second, just holding a fast-finishing Gold Trip (Outstrip), beaten by a nose for the second place after clocking the best last 3 furlongs in the race in 34''42. However, the favourite In Swoop (Adlerflug), 2nd in the Arc last year and winner of his last two outings had to settle behind for the 4th place. 4th in the race, he couldn't really make up much ground on the leader.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien for Japanese owner Masaaki Matsushima and the Coolmore partners, Broome was unsold at €120,000 at Goffs as a yearling but was sold two months later at Tattersalls for £150,000 to Michael Vincent Magnier.
