Dimanche 6 juin 2021, Hippodrome de Chantilly (Oise). - Second to Sottsass in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1) last year, the German Derby-winner In Swoop (Adlerflug) failed to hold off Sublimis (Shamardal) for his comeback this season in the Prix Lord Seymour (L), but took his revenge at level weights soon after that in the Prix d’Hédouville (Gr3), again over 1m4f.

In this Grand Prix de Chantilly (Gr2), the obvious next step for such class horses, In Swoop was most threatened by a slow pace with only 5 rivals, as the awkward Influx (Golden Horn) was leading at a very slow pace, even by French standards. However, Olivier Peslier decided it was time to make a move about 5 furlongs from home, as he came by outside to prevent any unfortunate hiccup. relying on his mount's soundness, he pushed him ahead and the horse responded well, holding back a nice Vaucelles (Le Havre), and then his old foe Sublimis, who had come by the rail and tried to sneak inside but was also beaten half a length in second, a neck ahead of Vaucelles.

Next is the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on the way to ParisLongchamp for another crack at the Arc.

In Swoop is the 8th foal out of Iota (Tiger Hill), a German Oaks (Gr1) winner in 2005, also the dam of Ito (Adlerflug), a Group 1 winner in his home Germany.
