The last winner of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Gr1), Waldgeist does not look for a double and leaves seven runners to rumble for his crown, including five from Great Britain, who were lured by the € 400,000 tag. The event is open to horses aged 4 and above and run over 1m4f on Sunday at Saint-Cloud.

Second last year, Coronet (Dubawi) hit the frame the five times she ran last year, and always at the best level. Fourth for her return, she will be ridden here by Lanfranco Dettori.

Also from Britain is Lah Ti Dar (Dubawi), who finished sixth in the Coronation Cup (Gr1) at Epsom the day before the Derby with Dettori. Ryan Moore takes over for this appeal hearing. The third female at the start, Morgan Le Faye (Shamardal) is undefeated in three outings this year after graduating on long distance courses at age 3. Trained by André Fabre for the Godolphin team, she faces the males for the first time this season Sunday but has appeared very strong so far. Like the other two females of the lot, she is entered in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, unlike their four opponents. And for good reason: three of them are geldings and do not have access to the big race of October!

Marmelo (Duke of Marmalade), the only male, is not entered too. He finished fifth in the Coronation Cup after defeating Aspetar (Al Kazeem), whom he finds here and who has just won the Grand Prix de Chantilly (Gr2), by beating Ziyad (Rock of Gibraltar) at level weights. The latter will try to take revenge on Sunday, and Thundering Blue (Exchange Rate) will try to raise his standards for David Menuisier, a Frenchman training in Britain.
