Ten high class fillies and mares run on Sunday in the 1st Gr1 of the Deauville Lucien Barrière August meeting...

Saturday's card at Deauville-La Touques starts the August racing season in Normandy but the 1st Gr1 of that meeting takes place on Sunday as the Prix Rothschild (Gr1), a fillies and mares mile championship, takes the center stage.

Five Gr1s in total are to be staged in the Summer at Deauville from July 30 to August 20, the last Sunday showcasing the Grand Prix de Deauville (Gr2), on August 27.

Ten fillies and mares have been confirmed on Friday to start in Sunday's big race. Titleholder Qemah (Danehill Dancer), now 4, will try to win again after seizing the Duke of Cambridge Stakes (Gr2) at Royal Ascot, beating an unlucky 3rd Usherette (Shamardal), eager to get some compensation on Deauville's straight course.

Two of the three fillies home in the Falmouth Stakes (Gr1), on july 14th at Newmarket over the same distance, the winner Roly Poly (War Front) and 3rd placed Arabian Hope (Distorted Humor), also joined the fray.
