The Haras d'Étreham Bournosienne 3yo Fillies Hurdle race (Gr2), female version of the Cambacérès 3yo Hurdle race (Gr1), was promoted to Group 2 in 2019. It is also the year a partnership with the Haras d'Étreham started. The famous Normandy stud farm supports a program restricted to 3-year-old fillies straddling the two seasons, and also including the Iena (L), Sagan (Gr3), Chambly (Gr3) and Magne (Gr3) 3yo Fillies Hurdle races.

These last two stages went to Hotesse du Chenêt (Martaline), who will naturally start the race as the favourite. And just as naturally, newcomers will try to scramble the waters!

  • 1. HOTESSE DU CHENÊT (f3, FRA by Martaline and Tanais du Chenêt, by Poliglote) Weight: 10-10 / Rating: 161lbs

Trained in Chantilly by Marcel Rolland, out of Cambacérès 3yo HUrlde race winner, she finished second in her first two races, behind Fortunes Melody, but then won twice in the Chambly (Gr3) and Magne (Gr3 ) 3yo Fillies Hurdle races, two previous stages of the Haras d'Étreham program, clearly ahead of most of the opponents she faces here with a penalty of 7lbs.

  • 2. OBEONE (f3, FRA by Muhtathir and My Fair Lady, by Poliglote) Weight: 10-6 / Rating: -

Trained in the Sarthe by Mikaël Mescam, she has just won sprinting the Finot 3yo Fillies Hurdle race (L) and immediately goes to the top of the scale for a bigger prize.

  • 3. HA LA LAND (f3, FRA by Poliglote and Avacapa, by Fragrant Mix) Weight: 10-6 / Rating: 148lbs

Trained in Anjou by Donatien Sourdeau de Beauregard, this gifted AQPS finished second for her debut in the Wild Monarch 3yo Fillies Hurdle race, then won a Listed race in Compiègne. She ran two prep races for this and finished third and fourth, well beaten by Hotesse du Chenêt.

  • 4. FORTUNES MELODY (f3, FRA by Yorgunnabelucky and Fulgora, by Desert King) Weight: 10-6 / Rating: 150lbs

Trained in Chantilly by David Cottin, she won on her third attempt, over Auteuil’s hurdles. She confirmed in September by beating Hotesse du Chenêt, who in return well beat her twice since. She typically races in front.

  • 5. STARLET DU MESNIL (f3, FRA by No Risk At All and Scarlett du Mesnil, by Muhtathir) Weight: 10-3 / Rating: -

Trained in Charente by François Nicolle, she has won her two races to date, easily last in Dieppe, and therefore starts at Auteuil for the first time, at the top level.

  • 6. HAIE D’HONNEUR (f3, FRA by Fame and Glory and Flower des Champs, by Robin des Champs) Weight: 10-3 / Rating: -

Trained in Maine-et-Loire by Gabriel Leenders, she finished third thirteen lengths behind Fortunes Melody and Hotesse du Chenêt for her debut, in September at Auteuil. She later beat Astadame by 6 lengths, while the latter since kept Hotesse du Chenêt busy all the way to the post. She is certainly on the rise ...

  • 7. ELITE ROCK (f3, FRA by Masked Marvel and Poprock du Berlais, by Martaline) Weight: 10-3 / Rating: -

Trained in the Sarthe by Mikaël Mescam, she fell at the last hurdle in the Finot 3yo Fillies Hurdle race won by her stablemate Obeone while she was very much in contention. So much so that her connections do not hesitate to send her immediately, too, tackling the best around.
