April 30, 2022, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). Latino des Isles (Martaline) was the obvious favourite as he had well dominated the other best chasers of his generation before this Prix Jean Stern 4yo Chase (Gr2), run over 2m6f. Yet, the Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé trainee couldn't keep up with La Manigance (No Risk At All), who's now unbeaten in three starts chasing, and a brave Sans Bruit (Triple Threat).

The winner had trailed the front-runners and perfectly jumped all that was laid on her route with Théo Chevillard. After the last, she could still produce an impressive acceleration to take over Sans Bruit, who fought back gamely for his first tilt at that level in a steeplechase. Always close to the pace, Latino des Isles only stayed on in third.

The winner was homebred by the Carion family, set in Meaulne-Vitray in the Allier (Centre of France), and who also bred La Chenevière (Montmartre) in this generation.

La Manigance is by the Grand Prix de Vichy (Gr3) winner No Risk At All ; also a Prix d’Ispahan (Gr1) third, who's now regularly featured at the top of the jumps sires lists.

La Manigance's dam Val d’Aumane (Martaline) also gave La Bondue (Saint des Saints), a winner at Auteuil. This is the family of Le Chablis (Sassanian), winner of the Prix Maurice Gillois 4yo Chase (Gr1).
