June 12, 2021, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). - In a particularly open 74th edition of the La Barka Hurdle Race (Gr2), Polirico (Cokoriko) easily prevailed to dominate Garasil (Blue Brésil), his stablemate with François Nicolle. The latter races for Catherine Coiffier, and was sired by Blue Brésil, like L’Autonomie, the best French hurdler, out here in this consolation race of the Grande Course de Haies.

To win again, three months after his promising success in the Juigné Hurdle (Gr3), the representative of Jacques Détré, bred in the Nièvre by Thierry Cyprès, travelled prominently and took over from the final turn to put himself out of Garasil's reach. He won by three and a half lengths, carrying two kilograms more than the runner-up. The previous winner Porto Pollo (Manduro) this time finished fourth after travelling at this same position.

Polirico, a 6-year-old gelding, had not really repeated his victory in the Juigné afterwards in the Léon Rambaud Hurdle race (Gr2), where he finished fifth before being overtaken in Compiègne by the good Garkapstar and Zurekin, on which he took his revenge here.

Polirico is the second foal out of Polimère (Poliglote), a winner over the flat under the same colours as Polirico's, that of France Galop vice-president Jacques Détré, and then beaten several times in claimers, but never claimed, to finally end her career on a fall at Senonnes for her only attempt over obstacles.

At stud, it was to be a different story. She gave, in addition to Polirico, Villa Navarre (Saint of the Saints), twice a winner over jumps, Polisud (Lord of the South), winner of two hurdle races last Winter at Pau, Villa Florentine (Jeu St Eloi), a Lyon-Parilly chase winner steeple, and finally a colt and a filly by Cokoriko born in 2019 and 2020.
