Sunday, September 5, 2021, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). - The English champion Baaeed (Sea the Stars) did not disappoint in the 65th Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (Gr1), the final episode of the top French milers' program. Trained by William Haggas for the late Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's Shadwell Stud, the 3-year-old colt travelled in fourth behind Order of Australia (Australia), who was leading the chase behind the runaway Novemba (Gleneagles), who held on until the last furlong. At that point, however, she was going to slow down sharply and Baaeed, who took some time to reach momentum, gained the upper hand to eventually win by a good length over a brave Order of Australia and Victor Ludorum (Shamardal), who finished well at a short neck after a sluggish start.

It was only the fourth race of Baaeed, who showed up for the first time this year in June at Leicester, then won two more races at Newmarket before entering his first Group race, the Thoroughbred Stakes (Gr3) at Goodwood, in July. Unbeaten now in five outings, the colt is the fifth foal out of Aghareed (Kingmambo), a mare formerly trained in Chantilly by John Hammond who also started her career in June at 3, later won the Prix de Liancourt (L) in September over 1m1/4 and left racing with a failed attempt at the Prix de Flore (Gr3). Prior to this potential champion, Aghareed gave two winners in England, one of which, the 6-year-old gelding Kasbaan (Dansili) has been sold for £ 65,000 to Voute Sales last August at Tattersalls. There is also a 2-year-old filly by Intello.
