It was Lanfranco Dettori’s first ride of the weekend, and on the eve of his quest to make history on Enable (Nathaniel) [in the Arc de Triomphe], he hit the target! This follows his success on Anapurna (Frankel), racing in the colours of Helena Springfield Ltd and trained in Britain by John Gosden, in the Qatar Prix de Royallieu. The latter race has been promoted to group one status this year. A tough filly, Anapurna laid down the gauntlet to her rivals early on and she gifted her incredible rider with his 17th group one success of the season! Delphinia (Galileo) and Enbihaar (Redoute’s Choice) were second and third respectively.

« She was slowly away in the Prix Vermeille. However, she made the running on this occasion and saw the trip out well. She’s very tough and, having already won a classic, is clearly a very talented filly. I made the choice to have Anapurna racing in this part of the track, as she is a better filly when racing three to four metres away from the rail. Tomorrow [Sunday] will be a lot different. However, the win was my 17th Gr 1 success of the season which is a personal best and I’m very happy»
