After the first race, the jockeys delivered their verdict on the going, which measured 3.5 on the penetrometer scale this morning. Clément Lecoeuvre, the winning rider of Trois Mats, said: « The ground is soft. It’s softer along the rail which is why we opted to track over to the middle.”

Antoine Hamelin, the rider of the second said: «I thought that the ground would be good as a result of the dry spell of the last few days, but it is riding soft. The track is in perfect condition – there are no holes and the grass has been cut to a good height.”

Cristian Demuro, due to ride the favourite Olmedo, said: “The ground is on the soft side but in excellent condition.”
