Sunday, August 2, 2020, Deauville. - Two weeks after the Darley Prix Robert Papin (Gr2) and three weeks before the Darley Prix Morny (Gr1), the Darley Prix de Cabourg (Gr2) is the second stage of the Darley series.

Earthlight’s successor in the 2-year-old 6-furlong race is the British raider Cairn Gorm (Bated Breath), who remains unbeaten in three outings. The representative of Hunscote Stud & Partner travelled in 6th position and finally had the last word in the last word after following the favourite, his compatriot Mighty Gurkha (Sepoy), returned to the fore at full speed after missing his start (he was still blinded when the stalls opened), and who gave in the end.

Quickly in the lead alongside Lagoken (Goken), Prince Lancelot (Sir Prancealot) remained third a head behind an excellent Jubilation (Acclamation), always well placed behind the leading group and second at a length.

Trained in England by Mick Channon, bought back £ 35,000 at the Goffs yearling sales, Cairn Gorm had won his first two outings and had been very brave to keep the lead until the end, previously over the same distance at Newbury.

His dam is a sister to a Musidora Stakes (Gr3) winner and her third dam is the champion mare Time Charter, winner of the Oaks, King George, Coronation Cup and Champion Stakes …
