Sunday, April 25, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). - The 4-year-old chasers' academy at Auteuil is rather confusing so far. The four first home in the €210,000 Prix Jean Stern 4yo Chase (Gr2) finished in a little bit more than 2 lengths, which added further confusion. The winner, however, is relatively new in the process. Le Listrac (Balko), who came by late in the run-in to beat by a length his stablemate at François Nicolle's yard, L’Aubonnière (Doctor Dino), was running over the bigger obstacles for the 3rd time only. a first at Auteuil. Patiently ridden by Lucas Zuliani, he didn't have to show much to score. The main challenger before the race, the AQPS Heloy Delabarrière (Chœur du Nord) finished well in third, beating the favourite Queen du Berlais (Muthathir), winner three weeks earlier of the Fleuret 4yo Chase (Gr3).
The €320,000 Ferdinand Dufaure 4yo Chase (Gr1), on May 23now looks more open than ever!
Le Listrac was bred by his owner, the Carion family. He belongs to the family of Le Chablis, who finished 4th in the 2002 Ferdinand Dufaure but won the same race in the Autumn, the Maurice Gillois (Gr1).
Le Listrac's dam, Margonote (Poliglote), never ran. He's her first foal, followed by a Masterstroke filly.
